Recent Shots & Shows
Like most photographers, I have countless images the public rarely sees—often due to subtle issues with composition, focus, or light. Some are simply personal moments, captured for my own enjoyment.
Lately, I’ve begun to wonder if others might appreciate a glimpse into what I’ve seen and how I’ve spent my time behind the lens.
The Lakes Region Art Gallery’s Shadow & Light Exhibit, held this March, brought together a compelling array of black-and-white works across multiple artistic genres. When we began planning, I assumed the exhibit would be dominated by photography. To my surprise and delight, photographic works made up less than half of the final show—highlighting just how creatively diverse our artists truly are.
I submitted three fine art photographs, while Stephanie contributed a single piece—her evocative pastel painting Shades of Gray. Ironically, her inspiration came from one of my own photographs, taken at the Parker River Wildlife Preserve of the Snowy Egrets and one Little Egret.
"Golden Poise" is one of my latest captures—yellow tulips in full bloom, glowing in Easter sunlight. Struck by their natural elegance, I brought them into my studio, set them against black foam core, added a touch of light, and took the shot.
The next day, I entered the framed print into the LRAA’s Artist of the Month competition. While it didn’t take first place, it made the winner’s list and is now on display at the Gilford Public Library for the next four weeks.
If this springtime scene speaks to you, feel free to email me for print details.
This winter was quieter than usual behind the lens. With other projects taking priority, my typical trips to the coast were on hold. But photography didn’t stop entirely—last fall, I set up a backyard feeding station just within view of my office window. As spring arrived and the light returned, so did the vibrant colors of visiting birds. Here’s a sampling of the moments I captured over the past month.
And finally, last Saturday while visiting with family, I stepped out onto the deck with my camera and ling lens just in time to catch this juvenile bald eagle flying by.
